Winter Break 2017

Happy New Year from Budapest, Hungary!  I have spent this past week recovering from jetlag and getting back in the swing of things at ICSB.  It was a wonderful winter break and I am so thankful for all the memories!

I didn't take many pictures in Texas but I have quite a few from Montana to share. :)

My entire family gathered in southwestern Montana to celebrate Christmas this year! Here is the Texas crew on the plane!

The first three days were spent at a lovely cabin just minutes away from Maverick Mountain (seen behind us in this photo) where we skied!

Me with my brother Graham (who lives in Montana)
and my sister Meredith!

Me and my only nephew, Sam!

My niece Sarah with my sister!

My niece Paige!

Cutest little skiers ever!

Wonderful spaghetti dinner at the cabin!

We went ice fishing!

Happy cousins at the cabin!

And in the snow!

My niece Eva's snow angel!

Heather and Sam were a very dynamic duo on the sled!

My sister-in-law Kelly helping to launch Sarah!

Eva and I, walking in a winter wonderland!

Top knots in the hot tub!

So much winter-y fun!

Me and Sarah!

On Christmas Eve, we headed back to my brother's home. This is the view from their back door!

These 6 precious ones call me my favorite name of all the names I go by - Aunt Laura!

We attended my brother's family church for a Christmas Eve service and it was lovely!

This picture makes me laugh so hard.  My sister was trying to capture the quadruplets (Sarah plus her triplet cousins Katelyn, Heather and Paige) with their candles, singing "Silent Night."  What she captured instead was the moment that we had a wax dripping situation going on at the end of the pew!  At one point I was holding three candles!   Thankfully no one was burned by dripping wax or flames!

When we got home from church, it was time for matching Christmas pajamas from PawPaw!  Then Eva did a read aloud for the kids (the Christmas story and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas).

I didn't take any pictures on Christmas morning - I got this one from one of my siblings.  I just enjoyed watching the kids open gifts and being together.

Later on Christmas Day we spent time with Kelly's family.  The kids were able to snowmobile and ride horses!

Sarah riding "Sparky"

One of my favorite moments of the trip occurred on the very first day.  Katelyn wrote on her dry erase board: "I am happy we are together"    So sweet!

I took almost no pictures in Texas but my time there was filled with:

  • Time to catch up with family and friends
  • Vassallo Cousins Christmas celebration at my sister's house
  • Going for walks with my dad
  • Seeing two movies in the theater (Wonder and The Greatest Showman - LOVED both of them)
  • Lots of good food!
I chose Mo's BBQ for my last supper in Texas.  It is a family favorite!  My dad took this picture of me with my sister's family.

It was such a blessing to spend time with my family and friends!  I always cry my eyes out when I have to leave.  I am so thankful for a good winter break, though.

And I am looking forward to all that God has in store for 2018!  May God bless you and yours in the new year and please know that I am grateful for your friendship and support as I start a new semester at ICSB!
